3 Reasons to Start Yogalates this Summer

Summer is a fabulous time to get fit and feel great with yogalates.

1. Summer makes us more inclined to get fit and feel great

Many of us are more inclined to get motivated to be healthy when the sun is shining! In the summer time the sun is shining earlier and the days are longer, that can make it easier to awaken, to breathe and to start moving  your body and maybe even head outside to enjoy the weather. 

Perhaps roll out your yogalates mat in a room filled with sunlight. Open the windows and enjoy the summer breeze whilst doing your online yogalates class. Move your yogalates mat onto the balcony or deck and enjoy the summer ambience. Find a shady spot in the park or in the beach to do your yogalates sequences. This will strengthen and stretch your body, calm the mind and improve focus and self-esteem! 

2. Yogalates has many health benefits

Start practicing yogalates this summer to boost your overall health, your immunity and mindset.  Yogalates helps to build muscle, improve blood flow, ease aches and pain, reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Regular movement and breath through yogalates help each part of the body function well. This includes the lungs, heart, muscles, joints, nerves—and it can even help to keep the brain fit.

3. Yogalates can improve brain function 

It is true that regular exercise, such as yogalates, enhances the size of the hippocampus, the area of the brain involved in learning and verbal memory. Why not start the summer season with regular practice of yogalates! 

Summer holiday season is a great opportunity to prioritize your wellbeing and start yogalates. Making time to begin yogalates or do any exercise can be difficult when you’re juggling family and school commitments, work and a social life. 

So that’s why the during the summer holiday season can gift yourself the opportunity and time to get started, to get healthy with the movement and breath and mindset of the fusion of yoga and Pilates. Once you get started with yogalates this summer you won’t look back, no matter the season!

What do I need to get started 

All you need is some floor space and comfortable clothing. A yoga mat and block may be useful but not mandatory!

There are two sacroiliac joints; one on either side of the spine. Due to the SIJ’s anatomical structure, its primary function is stability.
