The wellness industry is always evolving to continue to inspire, challenge and motivate clients. Initially yoga was practiced by predominantly spiritual people and Pilates was popular with the famous and elite.
As time went on the fitness and wellness industry saw the benefits of fusing these two workouts together to create something extraordinary.
What is Yogalates?
Yep, you guessed it, Yogalates is a harmonious blend of yoga and Pilates, with a touch of dance and meditation. Fusing these popular practices together gives you the best of both worlds – the rejuvenating elements of yoga including, physical, spiritual and mindfulness. As well as the invigorating strengthing, alignment and core engagement of Pilates, leaving you feeling fabulous after a flow.
Yogalates was founded by Jonathan Urla in 1997, but it was Louise Solomon who further developed yogalates, making it what it is today.
Mission of yogalates
Louise was a big advocate for how both yoga and Pilates made her feel and the incredible effects it had on her body. With over 25 years’ experience, practising yoga and 18 years of taking Pilates classes, it was natural for Louise to take the next step, and undertake training to attain certification as a Pilates instructor. Throughout Louise’s many years of yoga practice she saw many preventable injuries. With this in mind, it was Louise’s mission to provide a safe, nurturing, and energising practice. Louise began to teach her own practice, blending both yoga and Pilates together.
Benefits of Yogalates
Increased strength
The benefits of increasing strength are endless, not just for daily living, like lifting groceries into the car or to get your arms looking toned for summer. Increasing strength can reduce aged-related muscle and bone loss, improve bone density, give you a toned appearance, increases joint strength, and can even help you live longer.
Flexibility
Increasing flexibility allows you to perform better in every aspect of your life, reduces chances of injury, releases pain and tension and can reduce stress levels.
Say goodbye to chronic pain
Chronic pain is so common, but that doesn’t mean we should normalise it. Incorporating yogalates into your lifestyle can help reduce those aches and pain we live with. Yogalates stretches the muscles, ligaments, increases core strength and focuses on breath work to reduce stress which is also associated with chronic pain.
